Salter conducted measurements in over 1,200 homes adjacent to the airport to quantify aircraft noise levels inside of the homes to determine whether the homes were eligible for sound insulation. San Francisco’s landmark museum showcases a diverse art collection from 17th to 20th century America, Africa, and the Pacific. As directed by Caltrain, we conducted long-term noise monitoring at locations around the facility to determine the noise levels of train passbys and to determine which trains and/or tracks generated wheel squeaks.

Salter House is an expression of our domestic life; a place to nurture and explore the domestic space through the decorative and useful objects that inhabit it. Long before Salter House became Brooklyn Heights’ prime destination for families seeking a more natural and sustainable lifestyle, founders Sandeep and Carson Salter were just a couple of twenty-something creatives paying their dues in the East Village. Three years after starting Picture Room, a gallery that showcases the work of contemporary artists along with rare prints and framed ephemera, the duo manifested their “expression of our domestic life” through Salter House in 2017. Now with two businesses—and a household of two daughters—to run, Sandeep and Carson have their sights set on Manhattan once more.
Salter’s acoustical consulting services focused on sound isolation between buildings, environmental noise isolation, and mechanical noise and vibration reduction for the residential units. This private music recording studio was converted from a reassembled 1840s barn. Our team provided acoustical consulting for this high-end facility in rural Sonoma County, CA. Completed in 2010, the new 290,000 square foot luxury condominium tower features 165 residences, a fitness center, and a rooftop garden with dining areas. This 11,000 square foot luxury spa, located in the existing Huntington Hotel, overlooks the San Francisco skyline with breathtaking views from floor to ceiling. Salter contributed to a major renovation of the space that included acoustic finishes and improved sound design in both the 560- seat proscenium and new 100-seat black box theaters.
Salter provided acoustical consulting for the design of a new 760,000 square foot medical center comprised of a new tower, hospital services buildings, and a central utilities plant. For this two-floor renovation of PG&E’s headquarters, Salter helped with the acoustics for the new office layouts, including HVAC noise analyses, room acoustics, and sound isolation. “I plan to remake these in lots of different fabrics and add new styles, but I wanted to start with something that was really simple and all-purpose.
Salter House, a home goods and clothing store-slash-cafe that opened on Atlantic Avenue in Brooklyn in 2018, is largely credited for bringing the French Plasticana gardening shoe to the streets of New York. Acolytes have been known to style the recycled-plastic-and-hemp slip-ons with the brand’s “Picnic at Hanging Rock”-esque nightdresses and bloomers, inspired by a mix of Indian and English period styles.
